What time is check in and check out?

Check in is 3pm and check out is 11am. Late check out or early check in is available, but only by prior arrangement with the owner or local manager.

How far away are airports?

Accepted Answer

Lionel Densham aerodrome is 10 minutes drive.
Montego Bay Airport is two hours drive.
Kingston Airport is two and a half hours drive.
We can arrange transfers for you if required and recommend using accredited drivers.

Question 3

Do you have a/c and wifi?

Accepted Answer

There is a/c and ceiling fans in every bedroom. Good wifi is available, please ask for the code on arrival.

Can I hire a car or bike locally?

Accepted Answer

Yes you can hire a car, scooter or bicyles locally, please ask our manager on arrival. Cars can be hired from Kingston and Montego Bay Airports but we do not recommend driving yourself to Treasure Beach unless you are familiar with Jamaican roads!
We can oganise reliable local drivers to pick you up from the airport, it is advisable to book with us as our drivers are familiar with the routes and are fully insured.
Local taxis can be booked through our caretaker, generally at short notice. Some places, such as Lashings Bar and Restaurant, offer complimentary pick up and drop off from our villa.

Question 5

What is included in the rate?

Accepted Answer

The services of our chef, cleaning staff and caretaker are included in the rate. Our chef will cook you breakfast and dinner daily, if desired, you just need to pay her for the food and drink. The housekeeping staff come every three days to clean, change the sheets and towels. Our caretaker comes daily to clean the pool.
If you are planning to have additional meals or inviting extra guests this will be charged extra as it will entail more time for our staff.

What is the weather like?

It's sunny all year round here on the south coast. We don't really have a high or low season as the weather is always good, but we have occasional rain the afternoon from May to October. Hurricanes are extremely rare.

Can I book a guide?

Accepted Answer

Our caretaker Zeb will be happy to accompany you on local trips if you need a guide. If you are going further afield he can arrange for a driver who will make sure they are with you and can negotiate entry fees for attractions, help with finding food outlets and making payments etc.
Walking, cycling, boat trips and turtle watching tours are available locally, please see the visitor guide in the villa.

What activities are available locally?

You can go zip wiring, fishing, snorkelling, dolphin watching, hiking, cycling and turtle watching locally. The world famous Pelican Bar in the sea is only a 10 minute boat ride away. Further afield there is the Appleton Rum Tour and the wider tourist attractions of Negril and Ocho Rios.

Is it ok to swim in the sea?

The sea can be rough on the south coast and there are often rip tides, so you are advised not to swim out of your depth. There is a roped off bay round the corner from the villa which is suitable for children to swim in and if you would like to snorkel Great Bay has the calmest waters.

Question 10

Is is safe to walk around the area?

Accepted Answer

Treasure Beach is a friendly, safe community with very little crime. You will not be hassled here as you would be in the bigger beach resorts. If in doubt, please ask our caretaker where the best places are to hang out and to eat. 
We have a security guard on duty at night, for our guests' peace of mind.

What currency should I bring?

Both US and Jamaican dollars are accepted in all shops, bars and restaurants but you will generally get a better exchange rate if you pay in Jamaican. Most places accept credit/debit cards.

Question 12

Are pets allowed?

Accepted Answer

We do not allow pets, unless by prior arrangement with the owner. We have two friendly small dogs who live on the property, who like to hang out with the guests. If you are concerned about the welfare of any dog you see in the area please contact the owner as we have good relations with local animal welfare agencies.

Question 13

Do you allow weddings and parties?

Accepted Answer

We are a family villa so we are not set up for large events, however we do occasionally allow small parties - but strictly only by prior arrangement with the owner and charged at an extra fee. Please contact us for more information.
Anyone who has unauthorised parties or extra guests at the villa will be asked to leave immediately and to pay for any resulting extra cleaning or repairs.
